THE SEAL OF CLIMATE LITERACY DIPLOMA ENDORSEMENT

A High School Diploma Endorsement for a Changing World

The Seal of Climate Literacy recognizes students who graduate with the knowledge and skills to understand—and act on—the social, economic, and environmental impacts of climate change. Originally launched in Colorado through Senate Bill 24-014, the Seal is a practical policy framework that prepares students to lead in addressing the social, economic, and environmental impacts of climate change. Now other states are actively working to adopt similar policy.

For Students:

Through pursuit of the Seal, discover how climate change affects your community and explore ways to make a difference through your passions and interests.

For Schools:

Integrate climate literacy across subjects and equip students with the skills and high demand credential to think critically, solve problems, and take meaningful action.

Why It Matters:

By connecting classroom learning to real-world challenges, the Seal inspires students to take action today while building a sustainable future for tomorrow.

About the seal

FROM COLORADO TO NATIONAL IMPACT

What began as a student-led movement in Colorado has become a growing national effort to recognize climate-ready graduates. Enacted into law in 2024, the Seal of Climate Literacy proved that states can honor student knowledge and leadership in meaningful, achievable ways. Today, states across the country are building on Colorado’s success to adopt a proven model that prepares students for the future they are stepping into.
